Pricing
Free for you. Paid when it makes sense.
Every tool in OBSCURA OS is free for personal use, and stays that way. Businesses buy a license. The services we host will have a small monthly price. Nothing you touch is ever uploaded.
Coming next
Be first in line.
Six things are on the way. Tick the ones you want, leave your email, and you will hear the day each one opens, before it is announced anywhere else. One email per launch, nothing else, and you can leave the list any time.
Stored in our own account, never shared, never sold. Just your email and the date you joined.
Commercial license
Personal use is free. If you or your team use OBSCURA for work, a commercial license keeps you square and pays for the people building it. Add a seat for each person, adjustable at checkout.
Get a commercial licenseBuying for an organization? Set the seat count at checkout, or email [email protected] for a site license and invoicing.
Support the project
Not looking for a license, just want OBSCURA to keep existing? Chip in what you want. One time, no account, no strings, and nothing promised in return but our thanks.
Chip inThe platform
Plugins and themes are free, and open to anyone.
OBSCURA is built to be extended. Anyone can build a browser-only tool or theme for it, and community plugins are reviewed before they appear. That is how this becomes a platform for privacy, not just a set of tools.
Straight answers
Why is it free?
Because privacy should not be a paid feature. The tools run on your device, so they cost us almost nothing to give away. We charge for business use, and for the services we host.
What happens with my email?
It sits in our own storage, with the date you joined, and that is all. We email you when something launches. No newsletter, no third party, and you can ask us to delete it any time.
Do I need an account?
No. Not to use the tools, not to buy a license. Stripe emails you a receipt, and that is your proof of purchase.
Is this a subscription?
Support is one-time. The commercial license is yearly. Sync and Publish will be monthly when they open, because we run servers for those.
