Merge Excel and CSV files into one sheet or one workbook COMBINE
Twelve monthly exports into one table, the columns lined up by their headings whatever order they are in, or every sheet from every file as tabs in one workbook. The data comes across; the page says what does not.
The files
How to combine them
What comes across is the data: text, numbers, true and false, dates as dates, and on separate tabs the formulas with their last results. The look of the sheets (fonts, colours, widths), charts, pictures, comments and macros do not come across. When rows are stacked, each formula’s saved result is used, because the formula itself would point at the wrong cells.
How it works
COMBINE merges several .xlsx and .csv files. Stack every row into one sheet with the columns matched by heading and a column saying where each row came from, or keep each sheet as its own tab in one workbook. Dates stay dates and formulas keep their results. It saves a new .xlsx or .csv, made in this tab without uploading anything.
Doing this often? OBSCURA Research opens the combined workbook as a data set and runs the statistics on it, with tables saved to Word. On its own, US$2 a month; with everything else, US$5 a month or US$48 a year. 7 days free.
