Tell us what went wrong and this page writes the email, with the details we would otherwise have to ask for. It goes from your own email program, and only when you send it: this page sends nothing itself.

My work disappeared
Everything you make here is kept in this browser, on this device, and nowhere else: there is no account and no copy on a server, which is the point, and also why there is no copy for us to restore. So first, the places it may still be:
- Another browser or device. Work made in Chrome is not in Safari, and work on your laptop is not on your phone. A private or incognito window keeps nothing once it is closed.
- Your folder. If you chose a folder in Settings, the Workspace writes ordinary files into it: documents and notes as Markdown, spreadsheets as CSV, the calendar as an .ics. They are still on your disk even when the browser has forgotten everything.
- A backup. A backup file from Settings (a .json, or an encrypted .obscura bundle) restores everything it holds, on this device or another, and keeps whatever is already here.
- The Photo Editor's autosave. A few seconds after each change it keeps the open picture in this browser, layers and all, and the next visit offers it back. Closing a picture on purpose forgets that copy.
Why a browser clears a site's storage
A browser may delete what a website stored when the device is short of space, and Safari deletes it after seven days of using Safari without visiting the site, unless the site has been added to the Home Screen or the Dock. Clearing browsing data, or a cleaning program, deletes it too. A browser that has agreed to keep a site's storage does not delete it for lack of space, and one installed as an app is not subject to Safari's seven days.
Keeping it from happening again
- Ask the browser to keep this site's storage. This browser has not been asked yet.
- Choose a folder in Settings, where the browser allows it (Chrome and Edge on a computer), so there is always a copy as files.
- Take a backup from Settings now and then, and keep it somewhere you back up anyway.
- Install the site as an app: how to install it.
Before you write
- Is the site up? Status shows the checks of the last seven days.
- A question about a tool? The FAQ has the questions people ask, tool by tool, and help has the rest of the site filed by what you are trying to do.
- Your key, on another device? Sign in on the Pro page. To cancel, change a card or get an invoice, Stripe's billing page is linked from Pro.
